Lisbon Town Hall has said that it considered a number of new locations on which to build the new Popular Fair before choosing Carnide.

Lisbon Mayor Fernando Medina said the Council had looked into the Parque das Nações, Monsanto and Bela Vista, although all three were later ruled out for different reasons.

Therefore the Town Hall settled for Carnide, where once the new fairgrounds are built, will be called the Feira Popular station.

Mayor Medina said moving the former Feira Popular to Carnide is an “extraordinary opportunity” to help develop the local community.
