A new speculative office development on the site of Exchange Station has moved a step closer. The office agency team at CBRE in Manchester has been appointed on the new 167,000 sq ft 101 Embankment office building in Manchester city centre. CBRE has been instructed by partners Ask Property Developments, Carillion and London-based investor Tristan Capital Partners. Together the three partners have secured detailed planning permission and funding for the Grade A office building on the site of the former Exchange railway station, directly opposite Manchester Cathedral and Chethams School of Music. The first of the two office buildings, 101 Embankment, will comprise 167,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation over 10 storeys with 17,700 sq ft floor-plates and a 442-space car park operated by Q-Park. CBRE is joining DTZ as leasing agent on 101 Embankment. Demolition works have now commenced, with 101 Embankment scheduled for completion in July 2016. Peter Mather of Tristan Capital Partners, said: “CBRE’s exposure to the occupier market is second to none and we are confident that their appointment alongside DTZ will add to the success of our first phase at Embankment.”
